Тractive energy laboratory-car (ТEL)
Tractive Energy Laboratory-car can be operated in the formation of freight, postal-baggage, passenger and service trains and also separate locomotive driving through all 1520mm gauge railway net, in СIS countries, Baltics at speeds up to 140 km/h.
The laboratory-car is equipped with information and measuring systems, which provide the following measurements:
  • voltages of overhead line and loco current section;
  • loco equipment operation parameters;
  • geographical coordinates and loco running speed;
  • dynamic forces at TEL coupling and in a train formation;
  • train pneumatic brake system operation parameters;
  • train running linear speed;
  • track profile inclination;
  • environmental parameters.
All parameters are controlled in real time providing high accuracy of measurements.
It is intended to calculate and check functionality the following:
  • critical mass standards and train acceptance conditions (including increased mass and length as well in train formation);
  • consist of passenger trains;
  • load of loco coupling;
  • longitudinal dynamic forces according to automatic coupler integrity conditions;
  • checks of fuel and energy consumption norms per train traction and performance charts of different locomotive driving.
portable equipment located in the measuring object – locomotive;
equipment installed permanently in TEL coach;
The measuring systems consist of the following:
During the measurements the data from the portable equipment installed in the loco and train coaches is transmitted to TEL in real time through the wired technology Gigabit Ethernet and/or wireless net Wi-Fi. In case of TEL disconnection the measuring data is saved automatically in non-volatile memory of measuring controllers and then it is transmitted into TEL after the connection is revived.

The measuring systems can also operate in an autonomous mode, when the measuring system equipment is installed in the loco, and TEL is not involved in the measuring session. In this case the data received during the measurements is saved in non-volatile memory of the measuring controllers, and measured parameters and reports are formed in the post-processing mode at the working place of the measuring systems (installed permanently in TEL or of portable kind).
