Autonomous track monitoring system (ATM)
For the narrow-gauge Swiss Central Railway – ZentralBahn
Integration of an autonomous track monitoring system (ATM) into a scheduled rolling stock (Stadler Raill FINK train) for the ZentralBahn AG mountain railway (Switzerland).
The first autonomous system for monitoring the condition of track geometry and rails in Western Europe.

ATM includes a central system and a set of measuring systems, as well as a software package for evaluating and analyzing measurements, forecasting of the infrastructure condition in order to plan repairs.

ATM is designed to monitor the track gauge geometry, rail cross profile, short irregularities on the running surface and the longitudinal profile of the track.

The system is capable of measuring at speeds from 0 to 160 km/h.
The structural protection of the sensor and deep data processing provide measurements under different weather conditions (rain, fog, snow).

There is only one requirement – the visibility of the rail head.

The system can operate autonomously and does not require operator’s intervention. ATM can be controlled remotely and monitored through the wireless GPRS/4G channel or with a mobile terminal connected to the ATM LAN via Wi-Fi.
